Preferred document format

PDF (Portable Document Format) is preferred for any print job. Please view the PDF submission guidelines below before submitting files for printing.

If you cannot create PDF files then please submit PostScript (.ps) or Encapsulated PostScript (.eps) files or use a free online service such as goBCL PDF Converter.

Other acceptable formats

While the formats listed below are accepted, additional charges may be incurred for file manipulation.

Graphic design:
  • Adobe Photoshop (.psd)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
  • Adobe PageMaker (.pmX)
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Macromedia FreeHand (.fhXX)
  • CorelDRAW (.cdr)
  • Quark (.qxd)
Image formats
  • TIFF - Tagged Image File Format (.tif/.tiff)
  • JPEG - Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpg/.jpeg)
  • PNG - Portable Network Graphics (.png)
  • GIF - Graphic Interchange Format (.gif)
Microsoft® programs *
  • Microsoft Word (.doc)
  • Microsoft Excel (.xls)
  • Microsoft Paint Bitmap (.bmp)
  • Microsoft Publisher (.pub)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt)

* Many Microsoft® applications use RGB (Red-Green-Blue) colour, which is not suitable for printing. We can print these files digitally but if offset printing is required then they will need to be converted to CMYK (Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black).

Formats we cannot accept

We cannot accept files from CAD applications.

Guidelines for sending through PDF documents

Resolution At least 300 dpi.
Fonts Embedded or Ideally converted to curves.
Scale Full size (1:1).
Colour Offset Printing (large print runs): CMYK only.
Digital Printing (small print runs): CMYK or RGB.
Bleed If a document has bleed (i.e. colour or text right to the edge of the page) then at least 3mm of bleed is required.
Password If the PDF is password protected then the password will either need to be supplied or removed.
